Lucio Maldonado

Lucio’s practice includes all aspects of civil litigation, at both the trial and appellate level, with an emphasis on complex commercial litigation. Lucio takes pride in producing excellent and well-researched briefing that provides clear and forceful arguments in support of his clients.  In addition to his emphasis on excellent written work, Lucio emphasizes professionalism and civility in working with opposing counsel, and has been consistently recognized, by co-counsel and opposing counsel alike, for employing a solution-oriented approach to complex litigation that favors results over unnecessary disputes which unnecessarily raise legal costs for clients.  Lucio has litigated a broad range of actions including professional malpractice, construction defect, school district tort liability, agricultural disputes, trade secret misappropriation, data breach, healthcare law, and telecommunications service provider disputes.  He has had the privilege of handling these disputes for individuals and Fortune 500 companies alike.

Prior to joining Corr Cronin, Lucio clerked for the Honorable Justice Steven González of the Washington State Supreme Court.  His experience with Justice González provided him with substantial research and writing experience in a wide variety of practice areas including insurance coverage, constitutional law, and state tort liability.  In 2020, when Justice González was voted by his peers as Chief Justice of the Washington State Supreme Court – and the first Chief Justice of Color in state history – Chief Justice-elect González called Lucio and tapped him to be his official presenter at the swearing-in ceremony.  After his second year in law school, Lucio was selected for and completed the Washington State Association for Justice Trial Advocacy Fellowship, where he gained substantial plaintiff-side litigation experience, ranging from demand letters to three-week jury trials. Lucio also externed for the Honorable Timothy Fennessy of the Spokane Superior Court where he gained substantial knowledge regarding the inner-workings of Washington Superior Courts and state civil procedure, and served on several clubs and boards including the Smithmoore P. Myers Fellowship which serves to provide mentorship to incoming law students.  Lucio has a background in agriculture and largely credits his work ethic to the many summers spent working on his family’s farm in Eastern Washington.
