Washington State to Appeal Foster Care Verdict Monday, December 3, 2001 In a case drawing national attention in child welfare circles, Secretary of the Department of Social and Health Services, Dennis Braddock, announced that the State of Washington would appeal an adverse jury verdict in a class action involving 3,600 foster children. The case began trial on October 15th and the jury returned its verdict December 2nd. Kelly Corr of Corr Cronin was hired by the State to try the case along with senior state Assistant Attorney General, Jeff Freimund. After the jury returned its verdict, Secretary Braddock sent a memo to all DSHS employees and wrote that “our attorneys . . . did a great job presenting our case . . .” ← Back ↑ Top
