 Practice / Experience Ms. Thornton is a trial lawyer with experience in a wide range of legal matters, in both state and federal courts. She has expertise in bankruptcy litigation, antitrust, complex litigation and products liability matters. She has brought and defended cases in numerous jurisdictions throughout Washington and around the country.
Ms. Thornton has been selected as a "Rising Star" in Seattle's legal community by Washington Law and Politics magazine in 2008 and 2009.

Representative Cases - Cingular Wireless Services, Inc. v. Lloyds, et al. – Successfully tried claims against Chubb subsidiary (Federal Insurance Company) to verdict in a multi-week jury trial in Delaware Superior Court, securing an award in excess of $10 million against Federal and one of the first-ever findings of bad faith against a directors and officers liability insurer. Currently litigating related claims in excess of $47 million against Lloyd's of London and additional insurers.
- Rabanco v. King County – Successfully obtained temporary injunction restricting King County from implementing improper waste disposal rate increase.
- Smith v. Alaska Airlines – Defended Alaska Airlines against wrongful termination claim, successfully getting case dismissed on summary judgment.
- In re Trans World Airlines; MBNA N.A. v. TWA, et al. – Handled several litigation matters during bankruptcy and sale of assets of TWA in Delaware bankruptcy court, including resolution of claim by former credit card affiliate. Initiated and litigated dozens of preference actions.
- In re Conseco, Inc. – Assisted in litigating and presenting valuation of large insurance holding company during bankruptcy proceedings in Illinois, leading to successful approval of plan of reorganization.
