Practice Overview

Mr. Colgan’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, professional liability defense, products liability and employment litigation.  He has represented clients in the state and federal courts of Washington and Oregon, as well as in administrative proceedings, private arbitration, and mediation.  Prior to coming to Corr Cronin, Mr. Colgan represented the State of Oregon on direct criminal appeals, post-conviction motions, and civil matters before the appellate courts of Oregon.

Mr. Colgan is a graduate of Cornell University and the University Of Oregon School Of Law, and has been named a “Rising Star” by Washington Law & Politics magazine in each of the past four years.

Representative Cases

  • AT&T Mobility v. Holaday-Parks (U. S. District Court, Western District Washington) – Corr Cronin represented AT&T Mobility in a multi-million dollar construction defect case.  Mr. Colgan managed all aspects of the case, and was integral in obtaining a favorable settlement shortly before trial.
  • Lahrichi v. Stoel Rives (King County Superior Court; Washington Court of Appeals, Division One) – Corr Cronin successfully obtained a dismissal of a professional negligence claim against the Stoel Rives law firm and three of its attorneys, and successfully defended the dismissal on appeal.  Mr. Colgan managed all aspects of the case, and argued the appeal before Division One of the Washington Court of Appeals.
  • Griffin MacLean v. IMI (Private arbitration) – Mr. Colgan defended an insurance agent in a contract dispute stemming from the sale of his business.  The case settled on extremely favorable terms after Mr. Colgan obtained a favorable ruling on summary judgment.
  • Zurcher v. Southern Air (United States Department of Labor) – Corr Cronin represented Southern Air in a whistleblower action brought by a former employee.  Mr. Colgan second-chaired the trial before an administrative law judge, resulting in a verdict of dismissal for our client, and briefed our successful defense of the plaintiff’s appeal to the Administrative Review Board.
  • Omeros v. Scynexis (U. S. District Court, Western District Washington) – Mr. Colgan represented biopharmaceutical company Omeros Corporation in a contract dispute with a sub-contractor, and obtained a favorable settlement in mediation.
  • Annechino v. Worthy (Clark County Superior Court) – Corr Cronin represented individuals formerly employed by the Bank of Clark County in a suit brought by depositors of the Bank.  Mr. Colgan was integral in obtaining summary judgment in favor of the individual defendants.
  • BearingPoint v. State of Washington (Thurston County Superior Court) – Mr. Colgan assisted in the successful obtaining of a preliminary injunction enjoining the State of Washington from releasing proprietary business information in response to a Public Records Act request.
  • Alaska Airlines v. Gunderson (King County Superior Court) – Mr. Colgan assisted in the representation of Alaska Airlines in an employment suit brought by a flight attendant.
  • Schafer v. Estate of Brown (Skagit County Superior Court) – Mr. Colgan assisted in obtaining a dismissal of two corporate defendants on grounds of lack of personal jurisdiction in a case arising from an aircraft accident.
